Melvern

• Bass Pass will be in effect for this event. (Permit Applied for with the State.)
• Friday Night meeting will be held at Beto Junction (I-35 and 75)

•     They will have a great Dinner Buffet with Steak and Seafood items for $9.99

• Take off will be from the EAST BOAT RAMP. (estimated take off at 7:00 am.)
• Weight in will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday at the East Boat Ramp.

Melvern Lake hosted a sunny and successful day on the lake for members of the Kansas Division of Fishers of Men.

The wind was blowing, but the sun was out as 4 teams took to the water in search of bass.

Jeff and Jamie Hendrickson braved the wind as the first Male/Female team in the Kansas Division. They did not have a great day of fishing, but the time spent away from there four children may be reward enough. Jamie also was able to catch some great photos of the events fo the day.

Scott Schuh and Jason Anderson worked hard to bring in a nice 3.5 pound fish that got them the #2 big bass award. That one fish also kept them in the points for the Divisional Championship. They trail the team anchored by Roy Roper by just 1 point.

Roy Roper had to fish solo and was able to get 2 keepers that matched the state limit of 15 inches. Even though the lake has a 18in limit this event was a "Bass Pass" event so each angler that has the permit could keep 2 fish that were shorter then the lake limit, but still qualified under the state limit.

Winning the event with a great 5 fish 15.18 pound limit was Chuck Gardner and James Humbert. The walked home with $384 for winning the event, and also receiving top big bass honors with a great 4.12 pound fish.

We had several families that joined in for some great hot dogs at socialization after the event. Thank you to all of those that are supporting this division through prayers or other support.

The top three teams and Big Bass winner where presented with plaques from our main sponsor Newton Building, Inc. of Altoona Kansas.

The Next event in the division will be held on Big Hill Reservoir near Cherryvale, on May 19. Followed by June 16 at Milford and August 25 at Pomona Lake.

• We will start at 6:30 with food, and the meeting will follow at 7:15
