  • The lake is Off-Limits from 12:01 AM Monday before an event until Safelight on Friday.

The second season of Fishers of Men in Kansas kicked off with a record nine teams braving the cold water at Lake Perry.

The weekend started with a great meal and fellowship at the newly renovated Rock Creek Marina and Resort. Mr Roy Roper gave a testimony to start the year. Mr. Roper is well respected by his fellow anglers and also a very active member of his local church.

The morning of take off was cold, yet most everybody seemed optimistic. Just after 7 the boats took of in search of these cold Largemouth Bass.

The day stayed cold, but we were able to avoid any rain, and the anglers fought hard to find fish.

The first boats returned early to the weigh-in frustrated and ready to end the rough day. Five teams arrived with legal fish. Orval Dale and Jim Budden brought a nice 2.76 lb fish to the scales, to earn 5th place, just behind the 3.18 lb fish of Paul Hottman and Jack Reynolds.

The husband and wife team of Jeff and Jamie Hendrickson also brought in one fish, but it was large enough to get them the 2nd Big Bass award at 3.78 lbs.

Jeff Lane and Randall Norton brought 2 fish to the scales notching them second place with 5.89 lb. The recieved some a wonderful plaque for the efforts.

The team of Terry Grisham and Darren Canada, from Wichita, brought 4 fish to te scales for a total of 10.91 lbs and also the big bass of the day at 3.96 pounds. For there efforts the walked away with $1054 dollars.

Every event in the division this year has a $1000 guaranteed first place prize and Terry and Darren were more then happy to walk away with the prize from the first event this season.

After the weigh-in angler socialized and enjoyed some nice hot dogs before they headed for home.

The next event in the division will be on April 19th at Melvern.
